I did learn not to use reverse as a parking brake. Old age is when you are told to slow down by a doctor instead of a policeman!

Reverse is using the starter motor not the engine The engine is just running so that the alternator charges the battery as the starter motor takes a lot of current.. I think Dola accidentally hit the reverse button when the bike was parked and then when he went to start it, he couldn't and ended up calling a garage to collect his bike!!

I think his comment was a bit tongue in cheek as it was a bit embarrassing when the dealer pointed out that if he hit the reverse button again to take it out of reverse then everything worked as it should!!

If you try to engage the reverse gear without the bike running, the motorcycle will not start — This is a Honda safety feature. Next, shift down through all of the gears until the transmission will not shift down any further. Push the button in to engage the reverse gear.
